We first gotta understand that while it might make sense logically to be able to put down ammo, it would completely destroy the need to play around ressource spawns as every level would end up in ressource shuffling. This (and the fact that not everyone would move packs around like that) would make the divide between skilled players and newer people even bigger in such situations.īut, to explain why its a decent idea NOT to give you the option to move/stack or put down packs. More enemys doesnt only mean you need more ammo, but also better guns. So first regarding your idea on how to fix it. Hope you stick it out - in spite of the jankiness, it’s an awesome game The game isn’t supposed to be realistic though - it’s supposed to be challenging. You can very easily make an argument that that isn’t realistic or reasonable.

Is it inconvenient, and a little silly not to be able to drop them? Sure. You can run really far out, ignoring the timer completely until the next wave spawns, then just leg it back to wherever you’re holding with plenty of resources quite comfortably. It’s still built to be in your favor, anyway - the level is built such that enemies always spawn between you and your point of entrance, and never between you and the reactor until extraction. It’s an intentional design choice to maintain a sense of urgency and danger. It keeps pressure on you in a different way than just pelting more enemies or tougher enemies at you. That’s what the downtime between waves is for - scrambling to resupply in time for the next surge of enemies.

You have enough time between waves to run and fetch fresh packs and bring them back to your chosen defensive position. That would be a lot more rational and high stakes than this otherwise completely artificial limitation. I like the reinterpretation of GTFO as a wave shooter but I think once me and my friend clear this level, we won't be coming back to it until the devs remove this mechanic.Įdit: I would rather the devs let people put ammo pickups wherever they want, and to counterbalance we have to fight way more enemies. I just can't buy the notion that in this all or nothing survival situation, four guys would be holding one hand behind their back the entire time in such a manner, like they all have some kind of OCD tick about never placing things on the floor or something. I get what the devs were going for but in the context of R1C1 that my team can only put ammo packs on their back slot or in lockers with items in them feels like a completely unrealistic and artificial limitation. The fact that in R1C1 I can't just pick up the ammo packs and tool packs and put them down wherever I want, ideally concentrated around my chosen defensive position.

Relatively new to GTFO (20 hours in) and it's been a hell of a ride so far just one thing really bothers me.
